In response to announcements of regional bed reductions, our organization developed options for bed configuration in the region. Observations on the impacts and implications to existing resources were provided. This analysis was integrated into the development of the Hospitalist Program within the region. This process planned for the redistribution of some existing programs to other parts of the regional facility to allow for expanded ambulatory programming and improve workflows in both the ambulatory and inpatient settings.
